We’re spending Scary & Spooky month working on drops, rolls, and other moves that go bump in the night.

October is Scary & Spooky Month!

Each month at Cleveland Eclectic Dance, we focus on a different skill, topic, style of dance, or body part in all of regular classes.  For October, we are focusing on focusing on the moves that scare you most. In your classes this month, we will break down the moves that scare you most into manageable pieces to help you conquer your fear. Expect inversions, drops, and tumbles in your many of you pole classes throughout the month.

In addition to moves that scare you, we will work on moves that seem to be made for Halloween. Think Zombie, Daredevil, Witch, and back bend walks.


We’ll be running three special series this Scary & Spooky Month:

Don’t Stop: Drops & Rolls
Tuesdays, October 1st-22nd 5:30-6:30pm

Get your heartrate going this spooky season with a four week course on the dynamic skills that make people scream: drops and rolls!

In this series we’ll learn to safely execute drops and rolls (and slides!) for various lyra skill levels.

Prior lyra experience is necessary for this class, but there will be move options for newer students.

Please wear leggings and a tight-fitting top (the looser your clothing, the harder these classes will be). Long-sleeve tops or separate arm sleeves are encouraged but not necessary.

The class is $90 for all four weeks, and is included on all Lyra Flex Passes and Unlimited Passes.


Halloween Burlesque Choreography
Wednesdays, October 2nd-23rd 6:00-7:00pm

Do you like you’re vampires classic Dracula-style? 80s teenager-style? Energy drainers? Southern gentlemen? Mathematicians? Sparkly??

Whatever your vamp type, join Eliza for a 4-week Halloween burlesque choreography where you’ll channel your inner bloodsucker. This class will culminate in a recording of the final act at the end of the 4 weeks, complete with lights and fog.

Because this is a series and each class will build upon the last, please make sure you can commit to being in the studio for each class.

Prerequisite: Burlesque 101

Recording date: either 10/25 or 10/26 (tbd)

Please note: fake blood may be used in class.

Halloween Belly Dance Choreography
Tuesdays, October 15th-November 5th 6:45-7:45pm

It’s Aminah’s favorite time of the year!

In this 4 week series we will be creating some Magick. This super slow and slinky Choreography is inspired by Esoteric Symbolism and old school Fusion Belly Dance vocabulary.

This choreography is great for both beginner and intermediate belly dancers! Prior belly dance experience or completion of Belly Dance 101 is required for this series.

This class is $50 for all four weeks and is included on all Dance & Fitness Flex Passes and Unlimited Passes.

Additional Specialty Classes & Series

Doubles Pole
Sunday, October 13th 1:30-3:00pm
In Studio Only

Grab a partner for Doubles Pole!

Pole experience is preferred, but not required.

We will start with partner warm ups and trust exercises. Beginner moves will involve partner headstands and foot stands, skater poses, heart pose, and using your partner as a step up. More advanced moves will include various partner holds and some inverted holds.

We recommend taking this class with a friend so you have a pole partner lined up. If you don’t have a friend to take class with, we will find you a new pole BFF in class!

Please wear workout clothes, but shorts in particular. You will need your legs bare in order to be able to grip the pole. Similarly, please refrain from applying lotion for at least 6 hours prior to class. You will be barefoot for class.

This class is $30 per person.


Inversion Training
Thursdays, October 17th & 24th 6:00-7:00pm
In Studio Only

In this two week series we will break down the mechanics of inversions, and also look at individual conditioning exercises to help you personally reach your invert goals.

We will spend time during the first week working different exercises and discussing personal fears, or where you feel the most “stuck” in your progress. Your instructor will create a more specialized plan for each student for the second week.

We will safely play with other techniques both on and off the floor and pole to get a better body feel for how being inverted should feel for each student.

This miniseries will give you a good head start on Ass Over Head month and improve overall strength for other inverts!

This series is appropriate for anyone currently struggling with their High V invert, or anyone looking for more consistency with their inverts.

The class is $35 for both weeks, and is included on all Pole Flex Passes and Unlimited Passes.


Striptease 101
Saturday, October 19th 12:00-1:30pm
In Studio Only

Learn to perform a striptease for a special occasion, or just to liven up a random weekday night!

In this workshop you’ll learn the fundamentals of erotic dance including walks, posing, dancing, and clothing removal. We will then use our clothing removal skills to learn how to remove everything from your sexiest evening dress to your favorite sweats.

We recommend that you you wear a bathing suit, shots and tank top, or something similar as a base layer to strip down to. Please also bring 3 outfits: your sexiest outfit, a work outfit, and your favorite cozy clothes. Please do feel free to bring anything else you would like to learn how to strip out of.

Any and all genders welcome!

This class is $25 per person.


Burlesque Choreography
Wednesdays, November 6th-December 11th 6:00-7:00pm
In Studio Only

You must complete Burlesque 101 or have prior burlesque experience to take this course.

You’ve got your bumps and grinds down. Your walk is on point. You’re evolving and improving in your burlesque persona. What’s next?? Take the burlesque basics to the next level!

Throughout this 6 week course, you will learn combos and choreography, explore musicality and emotion, and complete one entire routine from start to finish!

Students in this series will have the opportunity to perform the group number at the Winter Soiree on Sunday, December 15th.

Grounded Lyra Flow Series
Thursdays, November 7th-21st 6:15-7:15pm
In Studio Only

Grounded Lyra Flow (“hoopwalking”) is a curiosity-driven style of movement Tasha is passionate about developing. Unlike most lyra moves, this practice typically involves keeping a foot on the ground.

Hoopwalking is a great way to add dimension to choreography, catch your breath during a long flow, and keep playing with the lyra while giving some upper-body muscles a break.

In this 3-week series, we’ll discuss safety practices of handling the hoop this way, learn grounded spin control, and practice transitions into typical poses.

This class is open to all levels.

This class is $70 for all three weeks, and is included on all Lyra Flex Passes and Unlimited Passes.


Handstand 101
Friday, November 8th 6:30-7:30pm
In Studio Only

The first step to being able to achieve a handstand is to understand that you WILL do a handstand….after you have learned the tips and techniques for proper positioning.

Handstands are more than just flipping upside down. Learn all the mechanics. When you take this class, you will learn a variety of exercises at varying comfort levels to achieve proper positioning for a handstand. Even if you do not get a handstand on your first day (not that you are expected to) you will certainly get an amazing workout.

This class is $15 per person, and is included on all Dance & Fitness Flex Passes and Unlimited Passes.


Doubles Lyra
Sunday, November 10th 2:30-4:00pm
In Studio Only

Lyra by yourself is good, but lyra with a friend can be twice the fun!

In this workshop we’ll learn a handful of doubles moves and a few transitions to string them together into one short routine.

Come alone or with a pal.

Wear leggings and a close-fitting top.

Some prior lyra experience is required for this class.

This class is $30 per person.


No Invert? No Problem: Getting Upside Down in the Hoop
Tuesdays, November 12th-26th 5:30-6:30pm
In Studio Only

Aerial hoop is a versatile apparatus that allows for upside down play even if you don’t have your invert yet!

This three week series is dedicated to all the ways an aerialist can get their ass over their head without having to muscle their way into it: shoulder stands, knee hangs, hip hangs, back balances, and more.

This course is for anyone who has taken at least one lyra class before and is also meant to serve as a great refresher for more experienced students.

Please wear leggings and a close-fitting top.

This class is $70 for all three weeks, and is included on all Lyra Flex Passes and Unlimited Passes.


Belly Dance Choreography
Tuesdays, November 12th-December 10th 6:45-7:45pm
In studio only

We welcome all students with belly dance experience either from completing Belly Dance 101 at CED, or from training elsewhere, to learn a group belly dance choreography number!

Since this is a choreography class that builds to a full song routine, please make sure you start attending no later than the second week of class to give you plenty of time to learn the dance.

This series will culminate in an opportunity to perform at our Winter Soiree on Sunday, December 15th.

This series is $62.50 for all five weeks, and is included on all Dance & Fitness Flex Passes and Unlimited Passes.
