![](https://i0.wp.com/clevelandeclecticdance.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/RoxFreestyle.jpg?resize=1024%2C902&ssl=1)
Each month at Cleveland Eclectic Dance, we focus on a different skill, style of dance, or body part in all of regular classes.
This month at CED, we’re focusing on guiding students in finding their freestyle flow.
In our pole classes, no matter what style of pole you love to do, we will spend parts of class with drills and exercises to help you figure out how to chain moves together to develop your own way of moving around the pole. This works well in all of our dance classes! So get ready for all kinds of freestyling this month.
Additional Specialty Classes & Series
Hocks Your Socks Off: All about Hocks Hang & Delilah
Mondays, February 10th-24th 6:00-7:00pm
In studio only
When we’re flowing on the lyra, we almost always throw in a hocks hang or delilah hang to get from Point A to Point B, but we rarely spend intentional time juicing up these foundational skills using the knee-pit.
Come learn how to clarify our movement when getting in and out of hangs, work on conditioning, and add transitions and flair to our improvisational toolbox.
This series is great for absolute beginners to aerial hoop, as well as those wanting in-depth, intentional time to beef up their basics.
Prior lyra experience is required for this series, though proficiency with hocks hangs or delilah is not a prerequisite.
This class is $75 or 14 class tokens for all three weeks, and is included on all Unlimited Passes.

In Studio Only
![](https://i0.wp.com/clevelandeclecticdance.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/1696613002679-VideoCapture_20230913-084908.jpg?resize=576%2C1024&ssl=1)
Stripper Style Night:
Part 1: Learn some moves in a Stripper Style Class. 7:15-8:15pm
Former stripper and Dance Like a Stripper course instructor, Roxi, will give you a 1 hour crash course in stripper style movement, getting in character, and feelin’ yourself. There will not be any pole tricks taught, since just learning a pole trick can take half the class time. We will go over how to hold onto the pole, walk around it, and use it as a prop for posing as well as getting up and down off the floor. A small combo putting moves together will be taught. We will end with a game about how to get comfortable remixing that combo and adding your own moves, which will lead you into part 2 of the evening.
Part 2: Now it’s grow-up playtime! 8:15pm-9:15pm Let loose with what you’ve learned and it in an uninhibited space complete with low, club-like lighting. (This is open dance time. You do not have to stay the whole 2nd hour.)
We are there to create a supportive environment while you get freaky in our open practice time with all the club lights on and music up. Roxi will be happy to answer some more questions, give you more suggestions, do a couple demos, but this is not about teaching. The best way to learn to be a stripper is to start moving and playing like one. We are there to provide that space for you with the music and lights, and lots of encouragement.
Heels are not required but always welcome. You also may want knee protection if you like a lot of floor grinding.
This class is $30 or 5 tokens, and is included on all Unlimited Passes.

Heels encouraged, knee pads and socks HIGHLY suggested.

![](https://i0.wp.com/clevelandeclecticdance.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Tasha-Rest-hoop.jpg?resize=1024%2C682&ssl=1)
Does your movement practice change at different times of the year? Are there seasons where you have to drag yourself to the studio, and some where you have energy for multiple classes a day? Accepting these changes as they come, instead of pushing to train the same way all year round, can often lead to more breakthroughs and help us avoid burn out.
In this 90-minute winter workshop, we’ll be taking a break from drills and focus in on how our bodies want to move. We’ll kickstart our curiosity through mindfulness practices, journaling, discussion, and end with exploratory time on our apparatus. While the exploration section will be facilitated with lyra in mind, students with a strong, independent grasp of another modality are warmly invited to join (such as pole or belly dance).
This class is $35 or 6 tokens, and is included on all Unlimited Passes.
Grounded Lyra Flow
Monday, March 3rd 6:00-7:00pm
In Studio Only
Grounded Lyra Flow (“hoopwalking”) is a curiosity-driven style of movement Tasha is passionate about developing. Unlike most lyra moves, this practice typically involves keeping a foot on the ground.
Hoopwalking is a great way to add dimension to choreography, catch your breath during a long flow, and keep playing with the lyra while giving some upper-body muscles a break.
In this workshop we’ll discuss safety practices of handling the hoop this way, dance and movement philosophies Tasha has found useful, and learn grounded moves for you to implement in your own lyra practice.
This class is open to all levels.
Please wear form fitting fitness pants, tops or leotards.
This class is $26 or 5 tokens, and is included on all Unlimited Passes.

Lyra Fundamentals
Mondays, March 10th-31st 6:00-7:00pm
In studio only
![](https://i0.wp.com/clevelandeclecticdance.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/PinkNicLyra.jpg?resize=768%2C1024&ssl=1)
What are the different parts of an aerial hoop called? What are the basic components of aerial hoop safety? Why does the lyra never spin how/when I want it to? What are some of the most commonly used skills in aerial hoop? If you’ve ever wanted to know the answers to any of these questions, this series might be for you!
Lyra Fundamentals is a four-week crash course on the aspects of lyra that are frequently rushed through, glossed over, or forgotten about. Your instructor, Nic, designed this series based on their own experience as an aerials student, and feedback they collected over several years as a lyra teacher.
This class is intended for: people who are new to aerials; beginner/hobby aerialists who want to try a new apparatus OR who already practice lyra but don’t feel well-acquainted with its most essential tenets.
The goal of this series is for students to come out of it with a solid grasp on core lyra terminology/concepts and enough information about aerial hoop to continue their aerial practice in a safe, fulfilling way.
Please wear leggings (must go past the knee) and a comfortable, relatively tight-fitting top (any length sleeves, crop tops not recommended). Socks are optional.
This class is $100 or 18 class tokens for all four weeks, and is included on all Unlimited Passes.
Fat Chance Belly Dance

In this four week series we will be going over 4 basic slow and fast moves and drill them out and go into the basic formations.
25 yard skirts are encouraged but not required.
No belly dance experience is necessary; this dance is for anyone and everyone.
This class is $60 or 10 tokens for all four weeks, and is included on all Unlimited Passes.

![](https://i0.wp.com/clevelandeclecticdance.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Roxi1stButterfly.jpg?resize=768%2C1024&ssl=1)
Unlock the mechanics behind one of pole’s most iconic inverted moves. In this workshop, we’ll explore multiple entry methods into the butterfly, including transitions from an outside leg hang, inverted crucifix, and the floor via butterfly base. Different bodies thrive with different approaches, so we’ll help you find the method that works best for you.
This workshop is designed for students who are comfortable with inverting into a secure leg hang or inverted crucifix position and have solid leg grip. You can either go up into a standard invert, or drop down from Jasmine. We’ll work with any safe way you are inverting. Whether you’re just starting your butterfly journey, refining your technique, pushing past a plateau, or working on your non-dominant side, this workshop has something for you.
We’ll identify common weaknesses that can affect the butterfly, alignment for muscle efficiency and power, assess your individual needs, and work through some targeted strength and coordinated engagement drills designed just for butterfly to help you lock into position with confidence.
This class is $35 or 6 tokens, and is included on all Unlimited Passes.

Please wear comfortable workout clothes for this class (pole attire not required).
This class is $30 or 5 tokens for both weeks, and is included on all Unlimited Passes.
