January is Floorwork Month!

Each month at Cleveland Eclectic Dance, we focus on a different skill, topic, style of dance, or body part in all of regular classes. For January, we are focusing on floorwork. We will spend the month working on taking things to the floor and back up again in most of our classes.

Once we (safely) have you down on the ground, we will begin working on both sexy and more acrobatic moves that you can do on the ground. Floorwork is a great way to add some dimension to many styles of dance!

If you have never worked on floorwork before, we do have yoga mats on hand for your comfort, but it is recommended that you get comfortable enough to move off the mat. A pair of kneepads of leg warmers can help with this. For the month of January students are encouraged to bring kneepads, leg warmers, and/or heels to all of their pole classes.

HIIT the Floor

This class will teach you a floor based circuit workout that will increase your strength and endurance for pole and aerial.

Using only the floor and your own body weight we’ll get our heart rate up without the high impact of other HIIT classes. No burpees, kicks, or jumps required.

Strength Training with Pole

Pole drills and conditioning is what this class is all about! We will use the poles, resistance bands, light hand weights, and our own body weight to help us increase strength, mobility, and stamina.


Burlesque 101
Tuesdays, January 6th-February 10th

Learn the building block movements of classic burlesque. We will cover bumps and grinds, dips and shimmies, walks and poses, peels and combos! From day one, we will go over how to string classic moves together to create simple and sexy burlesque combos. Students will also learn the art of the tease, and how to elevate the dance through audience engagement, self-touch, and musicality.

Heel Dance 101

Designed for dancers of all levels, this series takes you on a journey through confidence, sensuality, and style—one step at a time. Each class builds on the last, guiding you through short combos set to the smooth, soulful beats of R&B music.


The Pursuit of Pleasure

This 90-minute workshop invites participants to explore how pleasure shows up in their bodies, relationships, and daily lives.

Blending discussion, reflection, and embodied exercises, The Pursuit of Pleasure centers joy, consent, curiosity, and self-connection as foundations of sexual wellness.


Intro to Belly Dance Props

Discover the fun and creativity of belly dance props in this beginner friendly workshop!

We’ll explore the basics of dancing with fan veils, traditional veils, canes and zils in a relaxed, supportive environment. You’ll learn simple techniques for safely handling each prop, easy movements to help you feel comfortable, and playful ways to add expression.


Belly Dance 101

Your starting point into the world of belly dance taught from a Fat Chance Fusion standpoint with some Cabaret style.

During the 6 weeks you will learn all base belly dance movements, and finish the session with a mini dance!


Dance Like a Stripper

Come join the Stripper Style army at CED! This is an untamed and explicit 6 week experience that will have you rolling your body, shaking your booty, and loving your body like no other class out there.


Lyra Playspace

Lyra Playspace is an intentional container for lyra students to invest in curiosity.

Unlike a traditional class, there will not be a set lesson plan – students are instead encouraged to come to class with personal goals in mind, and the instructor will be there to support, offer assistance, and share feedback as desired.


Intro to Pole

New to pole? Has it been a while and you’re looking for an opportunity to start again? This 90 minute workshop will have you dancing by the end of it!

The focus during class will be on holds, spins, and pivots. We will also explore what is needed for climbing and inverting, and will put everything together into a short routine at the end of class.


Intro to Lyra
Thursday, January 22nd

Intro to Lyra is a 90-minute workshop designed for the aerial-curious! This class is all about moving with and on the lyra – an aerial hoop rigged from the ceiling – and how that may differ from other activities such as pole.

Great for total beginners to dance and fitness, as well as those looking for a thorough review of basic lyra techniques, this workshop will adapt to meet students at their individual level.


Intro to Hard Style Pole

We’re going to get you started on your dynamic journey in this beginner friendly intro class!

We are going to break down the body mechanics of safely landing on your knees and get started on some baby kip variations. Heel clacks and threads, and of COURSE some floorwork sassiness!


Color Light Pole & Lyra Photoshoot

Bring your pole or lyra poses, and reserve your spot today for a 50 minute private photo shoot with Sainteven Photography.

Your session includes pose assistance, 1-2 costume changes, a 20-30 minute color light photo session, and a day-of proof to select 3 or 5 final digital images that will be expertly edited.

Spin Pole 101
Mondays, February 2nd-23rd

Throughout the series, you’ll learn essential techniques for spinning moves, building a strong foundation in body control, and understanding momentum.

We will guide you through a series of dynamic spins, transitions, and flow sequences that will get you comfortable on spin mode.


Preparing for Inverted Pole Holds
Tuesdays, February 3rd-24th

Learn various entries into foundational inverted pole holds such as Inverted Crucifix, Outside Leg Hang, and Outside Leg Hang. We’ll work on inverting into, dropping into, and climbing into various inverted holds, and will learn loads of transitions in and out of each.

Lyra Freestyle
Thursdays, Feb 5th-March 12th

Lyra Freestyle is for students interested in adding musicality and dynamic improvisation to their lyra practice. Instead of focusing on how to get into various poses, this class will focus on the subtle skills that take a pose from a drill to a dance. You’ll learn transitions for your toolbox, play improvisational games, and build clarity of movement.


Intro to Striptease
Saturday, February 7th

In this workshop you’ll learn the fundamentals of erotic dance including walks, posing, dancing, and clothing removal. We will then use our clothing removal skills to learn how to remove everything from your sexiest evening dress to your favorite sweats.


Intro to Lap Dance

This all levels class will go over the fundamentals of how to develop and give a lap dance. We will go over a variety of moves and movements and get comfortable with stringing them together. This way, you’ll be able to give a personalized gift, or spice up your date night however you like.
