Welcome to Arch Abness

Each month at Cleveland Eclectic Dance, we focus on a different skill, topic, style of dance, or body part in all of regular classes.

This month at CED, we’re focusing on building strength and flexibility in our core muscles.

We’ve smashed together what used to be Back Arch March and Abs April into an ultimate core month that is punny as hell. We’ll be building strength in all of the muscles of our core, not just the abdominals, to help support the flexibility we will be adding.

If back bends are your ultimate goal, our Flexibility Fundamentals class every Tuesday at 8:00pm can help you on your way.

Expect plenty of arches and core work in all of your other weekly classes as well.

To help you strengthen your core we are also offering a two week Butts & Guts series Thursdays, March 13th & 20th at 6pm.

Don’t let Arch Abness slip away without working on your butts and guts!

Spend time focusing on conditioning your core and butt in this two week fitness series, and be able to take away some exercises you can do outside the studio!

Please wear comfortable workout clothes for this class (pole attire not required).

The class is $30 or 5 tokens for both weeks, and is included on all Unlimited Passes.

More Specialty Classes & Series

Lyra Fundamentals
Mondays, March 10th-31st 6:00-7:00pm
In studio only

What are the different parts of an aerial hoop called? What are the basic components of aerial hoop safety? Why does the lyra never spin how/when I want it to? What are some of the most commonly used skills in aerial hoop? If you’ve ever wanted to know the answers to any of these questions, this series might be for you!

Lyra Fundamentals is a four-week crash course on the aspects of lyra that are frequently rushed through, glossed over, or forgotten about. Your instructor, Nic, designed this series based on their own experience as an aerials student, and feedback they collected over several years as a lyra teacher.

This class is intended for: people who are new to aerials; beginner/hobby aerialists who want to try a new apparatus OR who already practice lyra but don’t feel well-acquainted with its most essential tenets.

The goal of this series is for students to come out of it with a solid grasp on core lyra terminology/concepts and enough information about aerial hoop to continue their aerial practice in a safe, fulfilling way.

Please wear leggings (must go past the knee) and a comfortable, relatively tight-fitting top (any length sleeves, crop tops not recommended). Socks are optional.

This class is $100 or 18 class tokens for all four weeks, and is included on all Unlimited Passes.

Fat Chance Belly Dance
Mondays, March 10th-31st 7:00-8:00pm
In studio only

Fat Chance Belly Dance Style (previously known as ATS) is a style of Belly Dance that started in the 1980’s in San Francisco, California by Carolena Nericcio-Bohlman and is now danced all around the world. Based on cues and gestures this is a fun improvisational dance that is done in a group of people.

In this four week series we will be going over 4 basic slow and fast moves and drill them out and go into the basic formations.

25 yard skirts are encouraged but not required.

No belly dance experience is necessary; this dance is for anyone and everyone.

This class is $60 or 10 tokens for all four weeks, and is included on all Unlimited Passes.

Building Up Butterfly
Wednesday, March 12th 7:15-8:45pm
In studio only

Unlock the mechanics behind one of pole’s most iconic inverted moves. In this workshop, we’ll explore multiple entry methods into the butterfly, including transitions from an outside leg hang, inverted crucifix, and the floor via butterfly base. Different bodies thrive with different approaches, so we’ll help you find the method that works best for you.

This workshop is designed for students who are comfortable with inverting into a secure leg hang or inverted crucifix position and have solid leg grip. You can either go up into a standard invert, or drop down from Jasmine. We’ll work with any safe way you are inverting. Whether you’re just starting your butterfly journey, refining your technique, pushing past a plateau, or working on your non-dominant side, this workshop has something for you.

We’ll identify common weaknesses that can affect the butterfly, alignment for muscle efficiency and power, assess your individual needs, and work through some targeted strength and coordinated engagement drills designed just for butterfly to help you lock into position with confidence.

This class is $35 or 6 tokens, and is included on all Unlimited Passes.

Burlesque 201
Wednesdays, March 19th-April 23rd 7:15-8:15pm
In studio only

Take your burlesque practice to the next level!

Eliza is thrilled to offer this new 6-week series where you’ll have the opportunity to do a deeper dive into learning about burlesque history and growing trends, use skills learned in burlesque 101 to work on improv and creating your own combos and choreography, work on facial expressions and character building, add a little floor-work to your practice, and spend some time learning how to build your own larger props and costume pieces.

This class is exclusively for students that have completed Burlesque 101, and is appropriate both for those looking to be more active in the local burlesque scene as well as those who just want to have fun and learn some new skills! Please have a prop or costume piece in mind that you’d like to work on in this class as well.

THIS CLASS IS CURRENTLY WAITLISTED. Your card will automatically be charged if you move off of the waitlist.

This class is $90 or 16 tokens for all six weeks, and is included on all Unlimited Passes.

Spring Equinox Restorative Yoga
Thursday, March 20th 7:00-8:30pm
In Studio & Online

We may be entering a new season, but just like nature – our bodies still need a bit of slowing and stillness, especially in the colder months. Wind down and tune in to your body and your breath during this 90 minute restorative yoga workshop.

We’ll move through a mindful series of slow, restorative poses with the support of blocks, bolsters, and straps, giving our hard-working body the rest it deserves.

Please wear comfortable, stretchy clothing you can move easily in. You may bring your own mat or borrow one from the studio. For those joining in online: two blocks, a bolster (or pillow), and a strap (or towel) are recommended.

We are offering both an in studio and online option for this class. Please make sure that you select the correct option when registering.

This class is $30 or 5 tokens, and is included on all Unlimited Passes.

Pole Fundamentals
Tuesdays, March 25th-April 15th 6:00-7:00pm

In Studio Only

Whether you’re new to pole or would like to return to the fundamentals, this class is for you!

This 4 week series will go over progressions of pole spins, climbs, and transitions. Whatever your skill level, there will be moves and exercises ready to fit your individual fitness and strength.

Spins and transitions will build strength and coordination to safely perform more intensive moves like climbing, as well as work towards inversions and aerial holds. Along the way we will also practice combining movements together while freestyling to music – so you’ll be ready to dance the night away right away.

THIS CLASS IS NOT REQUIRED FOR JOINING OUR WEEKLY POLE CLASSES, though this series is intended for those that want to learn with others that are working on Pole Level 1 moves exclusively.

Please wear workout clothes, but shorts in particular. You will need your legs bare in order to be able to grip the pole. Similarly, please refrain from applying lotion for at least 6 hours prior to class. You will be barefoot for class.

This class is $80 or 15 class tokens for all four weeks, and is included on all Unlimited Passes.

Dance Like a Stripper
Saturdays, March 29th-May 3rd 1:15-2:15pm

In Studio Only

Come join the Stripper Style army at CED! This is an untamed and explicit 6 week experience that will have you rolling your body, shaking your booty, and loving your body like no other class out there.

This series is intended for those who want to explore this style of movement for various reasons.
Confidence, Body Awareness, Sexual Agency, Self Ownership, Expression and Erotic Artistry, Fun, Curiosity about strippers and strip clubs (bring your questions!)
This is not necessarily a class for getting a job at a strip club, but we will certainly support you if that’s where you want to go with it.

By the time the 6 weeks is over you’ll be ready to take it to a stage, and we will provide that stage. After you finish the series we will hold your graduation!!!! We will turn CED into a mock strip club, complete with club lights, fog, and play money to rain all over you.

This course is intended for ANYONE 18+. All kinds of stripping can be explored here. From the mainstream strip club styles, to alternative adult entertainment. All genders, and the exploration of gender expression, are welcome!

Do you need pole experience? NOPE! Not at all. Pole Dance may have come to us from the strip clubs, but pole is not required for stripper style dance. If you know pole tricks already from other classes, then you can use them in your performance. If you don’t know any pole at all, you will learn everything you need to know that would still be more than a newbie stripper auditioning in a club for the first time. So don’t worry about any lack of pole skill.
All you really need for this class is to be ready to step outside your comfort zone and challenge yourself.

Dance Like a Stripper is a complete series course meaning all 6 weeks of class are REQUIRED. You do not have to participate in the graduation club night, but we highly recommend that capstone experience. If illness or something else comes up to where you need to miss a class we will do our best to catch you up for the next week. There are no refunds for missed classes. Please be seriously committed to the full series before signing up. Contact us with any questions or potential schedule conflicts you would like to check with us about before signing up.

This class is $150 or 28 class tokens for all six weeks plus graduation, and is included on all Unlimited Passes.

Preparing for Inverted Pole Holds
Wednesdays, April 2nd-23rd 7:15-8:15pm
In Studio Only

Build the strength and tolerance you need for inverted pole holds without making your kneepits want to cry!

Learn various entries into foundational inverted pole holds such as Inverted Crucifix, Outside Leg Hang, and Outside Leg Hang. We’ll work on inverting into, dropping into, and climbing into various inverted holds, and will learn loads of transitions in and out of each.

The goal for the end of the class is for each student to be able to not just feel more comfortable with foundational inverted pole holds, but to have various entries, combos, and exits added to their arsenal.

Woman in a black sports top, shorts, and heels inverted on the pole smiling at the camera upside down. Outside on a bright sunny day with fluffy white clouds.

Each week of this series builds upon the past, so you must be able to commit to all four classes. Please contact us if you will miss a week.

This class is suitable for pole students level 3 and up. Students must have either an Invert/High V, Reverse Handstand to Inverted Crucifix, or Shooting Star. No need to have all three; we’ll work on the two you don’t have during the series!

This class is $90 or 16 tokens for all four weeks, and is included on all Unlimited Passes.

Stripper Style Choreography
Saturdays, April 12th-May 17th 2:30-3:30pm
In Studio Only

Rooted in Classic American Stripper Style with added elements of Strip Plastique/Russian Exotic, this series blends pole choreography with dynamic transitions, unexpected direction changes, and options for doubles work and lap dance. If you have a pole friend, this is a great chance to sign up together and explore partner elements in the choreo!

This series is designed for students who are confident with climbing and controlling a Fan (somewhere around level 3+). No inverts are required, but you should be comfortable with positional and shape changes in any pole sits or holds after having climbed up. No prior experience with doubles work or lap dance is needed—we’ll explore these elements together throughout the series.

Choreography will be modular, meaning we can adjust moves to fit your skill level. Each week builds on the last, but you don’t need to master the entire routine—take what serves your pole journey and work at your own pace. While heels are welcome, they are not required for this series—barefoot or socks are preferred. Knee pads are optional, as floorwork will be minimal, but movement may evolve as we build the choreography.

This is a progressive series, so signing up means committing to all six weeks. If you have any questions about whether this class is right for you, contact Roxi before enrolling! There will also be an optional opportunity to perform at the Student Showcase for those who feel ready.

This class is $130 or 24 tokens for all six weeks, and is included on all Unlimited Passes.
