November is Ass Over Head Month!

Inverted Straddle V on the pole.

Each month at Cleveland Eclectic Dance, we focus on a different skill, topic, style of dance, or body part in all of regular classes.  For November, we are focusing on getting you inverted. Whether this means work on your pole High V, Straddle Mount for Lyra, Handstand, or getting comfortable in Down Dog is up to you. We’ll be working with each student at their own level, and within their own comfort level, to achieve their goals.

No matter your goals, we are offering a couple of specialty classes to help you on your way.

Inversion Training
Saturday, November 9th 12:00-1:30pm
In Studio Only

****This class has been rescheduled from October 17th to to November 9th, and changed into a 90 minute workshop****

In this 90 minute workshop we will break down the mechanics of inversions, and also look at individual conditioning exercises to help you personally reach your invert goals.

We will spend time during the first half of class working different exercises and discussing personal fears, or where you feel the most “stuck” in your progress. Your instructor will then create a more specialized plan for each student.

We will safely play with other techniques both on and off the floor and pole to get a better body feel for how being inverted should feel for each student.

This class will give you an edge on your Ass Over Head Month training, and improve overall strength for other inverts!

This class is appropriate for anyone currently struggling with their High V invert, or anyone looking for more consistency with their inverts.

The class is $30 per person.

No Invert? No Problem: Getting Upside Down in the Hoop
Tuesdays, November 12th-26th 5:30-6:30pm
In Studio Only

Aerial hoop is a versatile apparatus that allows for upside down play even if you don’t have your invert yet!

This three week series is dedicated to all the ways an aerialist can get their ass over their head without having to muscle their way into it: shoulder stands, knee hangs, hip hangs, back balances, and more.

This course is for anyone who has taken at least one lyra class before and is also meant to serve as a great refresher for more experienced students.

Please wear leggings and a close-fitting top.

This class is $70 for all three weeks, and is included on all Lyra Flex Passes and Unlimited Passes.

Pole Assisted Inversions
Wednesday, November 13th 7:15-8:45pm
In Studio Only

Pole Assisted Inversions: ready to flip your world upside down?

Going head over heels can feel a little scary at first, but with the pole as your trusty sidekick, you’ll be building confidence in no time!

Join this special class to learn fun ways to use the pole (and the floor!) to support you as you lift that booty over your noggin.

Let’s get upside down and have a blast while doing it!

This class is open to pole students Level 3 and up.

This class is $30 per person.

Additional Specialty Classes & Series

Doubles Lyra
Sunday, November 10th 2:30-4:00pm
In Studio Only

Lyra by yourself is good, but lyra with a friend can be twice the fun!

In this workshop we’ll learn a handful of doubles moves and a few transitions to string them together into one short routine.

Come alone or with a pal.

Wear leggings and a close-fitting top.

Some prior lyra experience is required for this class.

This class is $30 per person.

Belly Dance Choreography
Tuesdays, November 12th-December 10th 6:45-7:45pm
In studio only

We welcome all students with belly dance experience either from completing Belly Dance 101 at CED, or from training elsewhere, to learn a group belly dance choreography number!

Since this is a choreography class that builds to a full song routine, please make sure you start attending no later than the second week of class to give you plenty of time to learn the dance.

This series will culminate in an opportunity to perform at our Winter Soiree on Sunday, December 15th.

This series is $62.50 for all five weeks, and is included on all Dance & Fitness Flex Passes and Unlimited Passes.

Leg Hang Switches
Mondays, November 18th-December 9th 7:45-8:45pm
In Studio Only

Switching from Outside Leg Hang to Inside Leg Hang is a level goal for our Pole Level 4 students, but switching back from Inside Leg Hang to Outside Leg Hang often gets hurried through. But what about starting in your Inside Leg Hang and switching to your Outside Leg Hang? And then what about taking that to Tammy. What about Outside Leg Hang to Outside Leg Hang switching sides?

More complicated Leg Hang switches typically elicit a groan from students until switching is a fundamental part of a combo they’d like to learn, and then they stall out and have to backtrack. We’re going to break this cycle in this four week series.

This class is suitable for students Level 4 and up. Students will need both their Outside Leg Hang and Inside Leg Hang for this class, but they do not need both on each side. We will work on getting them on each side, transitioning to Tammy, switching sides, and playing with new entries over the course of this series.

The class is $70 for all four weeks, and is included on all Pole Flex Passes and Unlimited Passes.

Seasonal Somatics
Sunday, November 27th 2:30-4:00pm
In Studio Only

Does your movement practice change at different times of the year? Are there seasons where you have to drag yourself to the studio, and some where you have energy for multiple classes a day? Accepting these changes as they come, instead of pushing to train the same way all year round, can often lead to more breakthroughs and help us avoid burn out.

In this 90-minute autumn workshop, we’ll be taking a break from drills and focus in on how our bodies want to move. We’ll kickstart our curiosity through mindfulness practices, journaling, discussion, and end with exploratory time on our apparatus. While the exploration section will be facilitated with lyra in mind, students with a strong, independent grasp of another modality are warmly invited to join (such as pole or belly dance).

This class is $30 per person.

Stripper Style Night
Sunday, December 1st 4:00-6:00pm
In Studio Only

Stripper Style Night:
Part 1: Learn some moves in a Stripper Style Class. 4:00pm-5:00pm
Former stripper and Dance Like a Stripper course instructor, Roxi, will give you a 1 hour crash course in stripper style movement, getting in character, and feelin’ yourself. There will not be any pole tricks taught, since just learning a pole trick can take half the class time. We will go over how to hold onto the pole, walk around it, and use it as a prop for posing as well as getting up and down off the floor. A small combo putting moves together will be taught. We will end with a game about how to get comfortable remixing that combo and adding your own moves, which will lead you into part 2 of the evening.

Part 2: Now it’s grow-up playtime! 5:00pm-6:00pm Let loose with what you’ve learned and it in an uninhibited space complete with low, club-like lighting. (This is open dance time. You do not have to stay the whole 2nd hour.)

We are there to create a supportive environment while you get freaky in our open practice time with all the club lights on and music up. Roxi will be happy to answer some more questions, give you more suggestions, do a couple demos, but this is not about teaching. The best way to learn to be a stripper is to start moving and playing like one. We are there to provide that space for you with the music and lights, and lots of encouragement.

Heels are not required but always welcome. You also may want knee protection if you like a lot of floor grinding.

This event is $25 per person.

Grind & Shine: Feel Good, Move Strong
Wednesdays, December 4th-18th 7:15-8:30pm
In Studio Only

In this 3-class workshop, we’re looking at hip grinds beyond being just a “simple booty move.” This is about mastering hip isolation that strengthens your pelvic floor, improves body control, and feels incredible. Dismiss this move at your own risk – it’s a powerful tool that boosts fitness and mood but is also a staple of stripper style and many other dance forms.

Master the Technique – Hip grinds are more than they seem. Learn how to control your hips with precision. We’ll break down grinds in standing, floorwork, with a chair, or even using a pole or wall. Each of these will be taught separately, giving you a full toolbox of moves you can connect later with practice.

Strengthen and Support – This isn’t just moving your hips for fun. You’ll isolate key muscles to build strength and stability throughout your lower body and pelvic floor, enhancing your body’s overall function.

Feel Good in Your Body – Moving your hips can release built-up tension, negativity, and even shame that we carry in our bodies. It’s not only a great workout but also a way to reconnect and feel more at ease in your skin.
Boost Your Dance Skills – Whether in pole, burlesque, belly dance, or just for yourself, hip grinds are essential. We’ll explore how to use them in different styles and settings.
Oh, and Lap Dances – And of course, you’ll pick up a killer lap dance move with a few ways to use it on someone else’s body.

We’ll focus mainly on stripper styles of grinds, but you’ll walk away with skills you can use anywhere. Heels are optional, socks and knee pads highly recommended for floorwork portions. Wear whatever gives you freedom of movement and makes you feel amazing.

Note: Using grids with the pole and in some tricks will be addressed as appropriate to each student’s individual pole experience, but there are no prerequisites. This is not a pole class.

Open to anyone ready to grind & shine!

This series runs Wednesdays, December 4th-18th 7:15-8:30pm, and is $50 for all three weeks.

Lap Dance & Striptease
Sunday, December 8th-December 10th 10:15-11:45pm
In studio only

Build a private routine to wow your significant other. Dance techniques, setting up the space, striptease tips, and up close and personal moves. The perfect class if you want something to take home for you and your partner.

You will learn how to strip out of the clothing you have on, so you’ll need a base layer that does not come off. We recommend a bathing suit as your base since the clothes you are taking off will slide easily over the bathing suit. As far as the outfit you will learn how to strip out of, we have a set routine with the following:
Bra (back closure)
Panties (2 pairs)
Skirt
Men’s button down long-sleeved shirt (we have some extras you can borrow)
Tie

Even though we have a set routine using those articles of clothing, feel free to wear anything you want to learn to strip out of. For instance if you have a certain outfit you want to learn to strip out of for your next date night, then you should certainly bring it!!!

This class is $25 per person.

Instructor, Dahlia, standing side profile full body view, with one leg up on a chair. Wearing a black pinstripe button up shirt, and pulling out the buttons with a seductive gaze.
