We have released our weekly class schedule for 2024!

We’ve shuffled around our weekly classes so that we now have room for at least one beginner level pole class daily, multiple specialty series, plus we’ve added back in a daytime pole class!

It’s Spin Month!

Founding owner, Roxi, in studio on a pole in an Aphrodite type pose using an elbow grip. The photography effect creates an artistic blur to show the motion of spinning even though this is a static image.

Each month at Cleveland Eclectic Dance, we focus on a different skill, style of dance, or body part in all of regular classes.

This month at CED, we’re focusing on spinning. In our pole classes, this could mean focusing on spin pole (where the pole itself spins), or doing spins around a static or spinning pole.  In our non-aerial classes, there will be a focus on pivots, turns, and changing the audience’s perspective.

Spin Pole can be intimidating, so we are offering a weekly Spin Pole class every Saturday at 3pm in January!

Transferring pole skills from static to spinning pole takes some adjustments. Sometimes you can do a move in the same way on both, but often in order to control spinning speed and make smooth transitions you will need to adjust where and how you manage your momentum, strength, and center of gravity. In addition, developing tolerance on a Spinning pole takes time.

We will spend 4 weeks focusing on taking what you know to spin pole: from spin combos, to climbing, to inversions for those who are ready. Learn smooth stops and starts, speed control, and how to work with the spin to decrease dizziness. All the while practicing holding simple spins in both directions to continue decreasing dizziness over time so you can eventually stay on the pole longer.

If you thought you hated spin pole before, give it another shot.

PREVIOUS POLE EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED FOR THIS CLASS. This is not a course for those brand new to pole.

This limited series is offered on a single class basis, so there is no need to commit to all four weeks.

Students should be a solid Level 2 or higher. Strong holds, sits, and a basic climb are needed for this class.

Spin Pole will be offered every Saturday in January at 3pm.

Each class is $20 per person, and is included on all Pole Flex Passes and Unlimited Passes.

Upcoming Specialty Classes & Series

Preparing for Inverted Pole Holds
Thursdays, January 4th-25th 6:15-7:15pm
In Studio Only
(you CAN still sign up to start tonight, January 11th!)

Build the strength and tolerance you need for inverted pole holds without making your kneepits want to cry!

Woman in a black sports top, shorts, and heels inverted on the pole smiling at the camera upside down. Outside on a bright sunny day with fluffy white clouds.

Learn various entries into foundational inverted pole holds such as Inverted Crucifix, Outside Leg Hang, and Outside Leg Hang. We’ll work on inverting into, dropping into, and climbing into various inverted holds, and will learn loads of transitions in and out of each.

The goal for the end of the class is for each student to be able to not just feel more comfortable with foundational inverted pole holds, but to have various entries, combos, and exits added to their arsenal.

Each week of this series builds upon the past, so you must be able to commit to all four classes. Please contact us if you will miss a week.

This class is suitable for pole students level 3 and up. Students must have either an Invert/High V, Reverse Handstand to Inverted Crucifix, or Shooting Star. No need to have all three; we’ll work on the two you don’t have during the series!

The class is $70 for all four weeks, and is included on all Pole Flex Passes and Unlimited Passes.

Intro to Lyra
Saturday, January 13th 1:30-3:00pm
In Studio Only

Intro to Lyra is a 90-minute workshop designed for the aerial-curious! This class is all about moving with and on the lyra – an aerial hoop rigged from the ceiling – and how that may differ from other activities such as pole.

Great for total beginners to dance and fitness, as well as those looking for a thorough review of basic lyra techniques, this workshop will adapt to meet students at their individual level.

Expect to interact with the lyra through introductory conditioning exercises, gentle spins, climbs, static poses, and transitions. At the end of the workshop, students will have 2 mini combos to choose from to practice, with the option of going upside down.

No prior experience with dance or fitness is required. Upper body strength is not a requirement for this workshop, as hoops can be hung low to accommodate beginner fitness levels.

Please wear:
– long yoga pants or leggings so that skin is covered
– form fitting clothes, so that excess or baggy fabric does not get stuck

THIS CLASS IS CURRENTLY WAITLISTED. Your card will automatically be charged if you move off of the waitlist.

This class is $35 per person.

Body Waves & Rolls
Sunday, January 14th 2:45-5:45pm
In Studio Only

Body Waves, Spinal Rolls, Undulations, whatever you call them, this skill pops up all the time in so many different dance and movement practices, but spinal articulation goes beyond studio and stage. This class will help you learn the ultimate snakelike wave for the pole, floorwork, belly dance, etc., but it might also bring a new libido boosting option to your life if you want that too. This is not only one of the most erotic movements to watch the human body perform, but when you start to smooth it out it can transform into one of the most erotic feeling movements you can do. All of this will be addressed and practiced during class.

Absolutely, we are here to move around like sexy snakes for a couple hours, but improving spinal health is the foundational approach and you will develop a better overall relationship with your spine after this class. Practicing the exercises and drills in this class on a regular basis can help prevent spinal strains and injuries in the long run, and may even help in decreasing day-to-day back pains we all experience at times. Please contact Roxi upon signing up if you have any known spinal and/or pelvic issues. Please also let her know if you have any kind of recurring pains in your back and/or hips that aren’t anything medically significant that you know of, but that you want to try to improve or at least avoid triggering during class. Additionally, during class please stop if something doesn’t feel right, ask questions, take breaks as you feel you need them, and only do as much as you feel up to that day. Every body moves in its own way and we all come to this class from different places with our bodies. At CED we are your guides for helping you move better for you.

Home pole. Blue light. Roxi with back to pole holding a moment in a spinal wave.

This specialty class is created and led by Roxi, who has learned to dance with her scoliosis, and has decreased her own pain from it and other lumbo-pelvic challenges. She will integrate body knowledge with movement models and demonstrations, while noting sensations you might be feeling as you and the rest of the class are guided slowly through spinal and pelvic movements. The movements will help you practice various aspects of core strength and mobility. If you feel ready by the end of the class you can choose to put all the pieces together and learn a variety of full spinal waves for all kinds of dance styles, yoga flows, and other applications. The slower pace of the class is a great way to make sure your body is extra warm and ready to be bendy by the time we get to those full undulations.

Come study this juicy movement pattern with Roxi and find all the reasons to stand a little taller each day.

Prerequisites: a spine

Class Length 3 hours (75 minute class + 15 minute break + 75 minute class + 15 minutes questions & quick individual check-ins)

Wear whatever you would wear to a yoga or similar class. Bring water and a way you like to take notes. Optionally bring your own yoga mat and blocks.

This special 3 hour class is $40 per person.

Lap Dance & Striptease
Saturday, February 3rd 12:00-1:30pm
In Studio Only

Build a private routine to wow your significant other. Dance techniques, setting up the space, striptease tips, and up close and personal moves. The perfect class if you want something to take home for you and your partner.

You will learn how to strip out of the clothing you have on, so you’ll need a base layer that does not come off. We recommend a bathing suit as your base since the clothes you are taking off will slide easily over the bathing suit. As far as the outfit you will learn how to strip out of, we have a set routine with the following:
Bra (back closure)
Panties (2 pairs)
Skirt
Men’s button down long-sleeved shirt (we have some extras you can borrow)
Tie

Even though we have a set routine using those articles of clothing, feel free to wear anything you want to learn to strip out of. For instance if you have a certain outfit you want to learn to strip out of for your next date night, then you should certainly bring it!!!

This class is $25 per person.

Instructor, Dahlia, standing side profile full body view, with one leg up on a chair. Wearing a black pinstripe button up shirt, and pulling out the buttons with a seductive gaze.

Lyra Choreography

In Studio Only

Instructor Tasha during performance stretched out in a beautiful lyra pose.

Lyra Choreography is a class for students interested in adding musicality to their lyra practice. Desired prerequisites include comfort with hocks hang, delilah, back balance and front balance; however, anyone interested in combining their existing lyra practice with dance is encouraged to join. Modifications will be made to meet students where they are at.

Please plan to wear form-fitting clothes covering knees and thighs, and bring socks for spins.

Class 2: Spin conditioning, “hoop walking”, and floorwork

Class 3-6: Choreography and active discussion on modifications
