We’re strengthening and stretching all Arch Abness long! We also have upcoming classes featuring butts, guts, fish flops, and butterflies.

Welcome Arch Abness!

Each month at Cleveland Eclectic Dance, we focus on a different skill, topic, style of dance, or body part in all of regular classes.

This month at CED, we’re focusing on building strength and flexibility in our core muscles.

We’ve smashed together what used to be Back Arch March and Abs April into an ultimate core month that is punny as hell. We’ll be building strength in all of the muscles of our core, not just the abdominals, to help support the flexibility we will be adding.

If back bends are your ultimate goal, our Flexibility Training class every Tuesday at 6:40pm can help you on your way.

Expect plenty of arches and core work in all of your other weekly classes as well.

To help you strengthen your core we are also offering a two week Butts & Guts series Thursdays, March 21st & 28th at 6pm.

Don’t let Arch Abness slip away without working on your butts and guts!

Spend time focusing on conditioning your core and butt in this two week fitness series, and be able to take away some exercises you can do outside the studio!

Please wear comfortable workout clothes for this class (pole attire not required).

The class is $25 for both weeks, and is included on all Dance & Fitness Flex Passes and Unlimited Passes.

Upcoming Specialty Classes & Series

Stripper Style Night
Saturday, March 9th 7:00-9:00pm
In Studio Only

Stripper Style Night:
Part 1: Learn some moves in a Stripper Style Class. 7:00pm-8:00pm
Former stripper and Dance Like a Stripper course instructor, Roxi, will give you a 1 hour crash course in stripper style movement, getting in character, and feelin’ yourself. There will not be any pole tricks taught, since just learning a pole trick can take half the class time. We will go over how to hold onto the pole, walk around it, and use it as a prop for posing as well as getting up and down off the floor. A small combo putting moves together will be taught. We will end with a game about how to get comfortable remixing that combo and adding your own moves, which will lead you into part 2 of the evening.

Part 2: Now it’s grow-up playtime! 8:00pm-9:00pm

Let loose with what you’ve learned and it in an uninhibited space complete with low, club-like lighting. (This is open dance time. You do not have to stay the whole 2nd hour.)

We are there to create a supportive environment while you get freaky in our open practice time with all the club lights on and music up. Roxi will be happy to answer some more questions, give you more suggestions, do a couple demos, but this is not about teaching. The best way to learn to be a stripper is to start moving and playing like one. We are there to provide that space for you with the music and lights, and lots of encouragement.

Heels are not required but always welcome. You also may want knee protection if you like a lot of floor grinding.

This event is $25 per person.

Learn the building block movements of classic burlesque. We will cover bumps and grinds, dips and shimmies, walks and poses, peels and combos! From day one, we will go over how to string classic moves together to create simple and sexy burlesque combos. Students will also learn the art of the tease, and how to elevate the dance through audience engagement, self-touch, and musicality.

This class is a 101 for all levels; whether you are brand new to burlesque or looking to brush up on technique and learn some tips and tricks, all are welcome!

Please have a comfortable pair of heels on hand.

Empower Yoga Flow
Saturday, March 23rd 7:30-8:45pm
In Studio Only

Empower Yoga Flow: a balance between strength-building controlled poses and upbeat fluid movements, this yoga flow is a little bit dancy and a little bit sultry.

We will have our club lighting we use for our private parties set up for this very special yoga class to help set the mood.

While faster-paced than our weekly yoga class, this 75 minute workshop is open to all levels.

We have props for use during class, but feel to bring your own yoga mat if you prefer.

This class is $25 per person.

Intro to Fat Chance Belly Dance
Sunday, March 24th 3:30-5:30pm
In Studio Only

Fat Chance Bellydance Style (previously known as ATS) is a style of Belly Dance that started in the 1980’s in San Francisco, California by Carolena Nericcio-Bohlman and is now danced all around the world. Based on cues and gestures this is a fun improvisational dance that is done in a group of people.

In this workshop we will be going over 4 basic slow and fast moves and drill them out and go into the basic formations.

25 yard skirts are encouraged but not required.

No belly dance experience is necessary; this dance is for anyone and everyone.

This class is $35 per person.

Dance Like a Stripper
Wednesdays, April 3rd-May 8th 7:30-8:30pm
In studio only

Come join the Stripper Style army at CED! This is an untamed and explicit 6 week experience that will have you rolling your body, shaking your booty, and loving your body like no other class out there.

This series is intended for those who want to explore this style of movement for various reasons.
Confidence
Body Awareness
Sexual Agency
Self Ownership
Expression and Erotic Artistry
Fun
Curiosity about strippers and strip clubs (bring your questions!)

This is not necessarily a class for getting a job at a strip club, but we will certainly support you if that’s where you want to go with it.

By the time the 6 weeks is over you’ll be ready to take it to a stage, and we will provide that stage. The 6 class sessions will be on Wednesdays, April 3rd – May 8th, 7:30-8:30pm. After you finish the series we will hold your graduation!!!! We will turn CED into a mock strip club, complete with club lights, fog, and play money to rain all over you.

This course is intended for ANYONE 18+. All kinds of striping can be explored here. From the mainstream strip club styles, to alternative adult entertainment. All genders, and the exploration of gender expression, are welcome!

Do you need pole experience? NOPE! Not at all. Pole Dance may have come to us from the strip clubs, but pole is not required for stripper style dance. If you know pole tricks already from other classes, then you can use them in your performance. If you don’t know any pole at all, you will learn everything you need to know that would still be more than a newbie stripper auditioning in a club for the first time. So don’t worry about any lack of pole skill. All you really need for this class is to be ready to step outside your comfort zone and challenge yourself.

Dance Like a Stripper is a complete series course meaning all 6 weeks of class are REQUIRED. You do not have to participate in the graduation club night, but we highly recommend that capstone experience. If illness or something else comes up to where you need to miss a class we will do our best to catch you up for the next week. There are no refunds for missed classes. Please be seriously committed to the full series before signing up. Contact us with any questions or potential schedule conflicts you would like to check with us about before signing up.

This class is $100 for all six weeks.

Intro to Pole
Saturday, April 6th 10:00-11:30am
In Studio Only

New to pole? Has it been a while and you’re looking for an opportunity to start again? This 90 minute workshop will have you dancing by the end of it!

The focus during class will be on spins, holds, and dancing around a fixed point – aka, the pole.

No matter what you think your strength is like, moves can be modified to match your individual fitness level. (Yes, this means they can be modified in multiple ways to many skill levels.)

THIS CLASS IS NOT REQUIRED FOR JOINING OUR WEEKLY POLE CLASSES, though this workshop is intended for those that want to learn with others that are working on Pole Level 1 moves exclusively.

Please wear workout clothes, but shorts in particular. You will need your legs bare in order to be able to grip the pole. Similarly, please refrain from applying lotion for at least 6 hours prior to class. You will be barefoot for class.

This class is $30 per person.

Threads & Weaves
Sundays, April 7th-28th 2:15-3:15pm
In Studio Only

Wind around the pole turning in unexpected directions in different swirl patterns of leg work while moving through the spaces between your body, the pole, and the floor. Threads and weaves takes a look at types of low flow and floorwork techniques that are fundamental building blocks in Strip Plastic, and Russian Exotic seamless flow styles of pole, but also in Hard Styles. Hardstyle movement phrases end in accents like shoe bangs, and hard floor landing, so there’s a little something for everyone in this class. While threading is a primary feature of these styles, it’s useful to have some experience in navigating the low flow space in this way for all kinds of transitions that are amazing in any pole routine.

After 4 weeks you will have some standing threads, lower weaves between pole and floor, and some elements off pole in the realm of floorwork. By the final week you will be working on combos to bring these elements together.

Levels 2 and up. Thick socks and knee protection is highly recommended. Shoes are a feature of this style but they are also optional for this class. A lot of learning is done without, and I often see these techniques being done in socks to take advantage of the slipperiness. Contact Roxi for any questions.

The class is $70 for all four weeks, and is included on all Pole Flex Passes and Unlimited Passes.

Beginner Chair Dance
Sundays, April 7th 3:30-5:30pm
In Studio Only

Build a solid foundation in chair dance! By the end of this specialty class you will feel comfortable in a variety of sexy posed chair positions, and will have learned how to connect them in different ways. You can then take this to add a new layer to a private dance, to use in burlesque, or a good foundation to more acrobatic chair skills in the future.

Wear comfortable clothing you can freely move in. We will learn bare foot, but you are welcome to bring heels if you want to try the moves with shoes on.

Brand new beginners welcome!

This class is $25 per person.
