July is Bringing Sexy Back Month!

Each month at Cleveland Eclectic Dance we focus on a different skill, style of dance, or body part in all of regular classes.  This month at CED, we will be focusing on the sexy side of pole dancing.

United Pole Artists used to run Bringing Sexy Back as a celebration of INDIVIDUAL representations of the sexy side of pole dance every July. They have since stopped running this, hoping rather to promote the fitness side of pole dancing in hopes of it becoming an Olympic sport, but as Cleveland’s sexy pole studio we can’t pass up the chance to celebrate our stripper roots.

Featured Classes for the Month

Dynamic Panic: Hard Style Foundations & Progressions
Sundays, July 6th – 20th 10:45-11:45am

Want some cardio with your pole dancing? Yeah, me either. But do you want to add some more dynamic flare to your arsenal? Because we love that shit. Kips, flops, drops and floorwork!

In this three week series we will cover a bunch of different hard style/dynamic moves for students level 2/3 and up with plenty of progressions. We will break down some of those crucial elements to hard style pole that you can incorporate in tons of other moves both on and off the pole.

Heels and knee pads are an absolute must for this series.

Exotica Heels: A Sensual Movement Series
Mondays, July 14th – August 4th 6:00-7:00pm

Unleash your inner femme fatale in Exotica Heels — a 4-week journey into the art of sensual expression, exotic floorwork, and unapologetic confidence. This series blends the power of heel technique with slow, seductive movement rooted in stripper style dance.

Each week builds on the last, guiding you through fluid transitions, grounded floorwork, and captivating choreography designed to celebrate your body and elevate your presence. Expect toe-to-heel drills, hip isolations, hair flips, and empowering combos — all set to sultry beats that let you move with intention.

Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or just stepping into your sensual era, this space is yours to explore, express, and embody your boldest self.

All levels are welcome. Knee pads + heels recommended. Come dressed to dance (or in you thot best).

Stripper Style Night
Thursday, July 17th 7:15-9:15pm
In Studio Only

Stripper Style Night: Part 1: Learn some moves in a Stripper Style Class. 7:15-8:15pm Former stripper and Dance Like a Stripper course instructor, Roxi, will give you a 1 hour crash course in stripper style movement, getting in character, and feelin’ yourself. There will not be any pole tricks taught, since just learning a pole trick can take half the class time. We will go over how to hold onto the pole, walk around it, and use it as a prop for posing as well as getting up and down off the floor. A small combo putting moves together will be taught. We will end with a game about how to get comfortable remixing that combo and adding your own moves, which will lead you into part 2 of the evening.

Part 2: Now it’s grow-up playtime! 8:15-9:15pm Let loose with what you’ve learned and it in an uninhibited space complete with low, club-like lighting. (This is open dance time. You do not have to stay the whole 2nd hour.)

We are there to create a supportive environment while you get freaky in our open practice time with all the club lights on and music up. Roxi will be happy to answer some more questions, give you more suggestions, do a couple demos, but this is not about teaching. The best way to learn to be a stripper is to start moving and playing like one. We are there to provide that space for you with the music and lights, and lots of encouragement.

Heels are not required but always welcome. You also may want knee protection if you like a lot of floor grinding.

Heel Clacks & Bangs
Sunday July 20th 2:30-4:00pm

Love heels but not sure what all you can do with them? Whether you’re walking like a pro or wearing heels as decoration, take your footwear to the next level by learning tips and tricks for heel clacks and shoe bangs both on the pole and on the floor!

This class will cover the basics as well as a variety of ways of how to clack the platforms of your stripper shoes together and against the floor. Some combo options too so you can add the skill directly into your dances. Stripper Style platform shoes are required (and available for rent if you don’t already own a pair!), and knee pads are highly recommended. By the end of this class, the moves you’ll do with your shoes will be music to your ears!

Newbies welcome! There will be some pole options for those who do pole, but it’s not required and there are no pole level requirements. Most of the skills for students newer to pole and this style of dance will be on the floor.

Pole Combos from the Club: Leg Hang Switches with Jade Splits
Wednesday, July 30th 7:15-8:15pm

We’re taking it back to the 2010 Midwest strip club favorite: Critter Combo!

For those not born in a year starting in a 19, Critter Combo is the Midwest name for taking your Outside Leg Hang to Inverted Hip Hold to Inside Leg Hang to Tammy; or, if you were a fan of Michelle Mynx: Griffin to Sugar Glider to Seahorse to Swan.

Since it is Bringing Sexy Back Month and this is Lisa’s class, we will also spend a good portion of the class adding in a Jade Split to the combo and tacking on a Shoulder Dismount to the end.

This class is suitable for students Level 4 and up. Students will need both their Outside Leg Hang and Inside Leg Hang for this class, but they do not need both on each side. We will work on transitioning in between, transitioning to Tammy, and Jade Split progressions.

Floorwork Choreography

We’re bringing sexy back with a four-week beginner-level floorwork series!

In this choreography-based series you’ll learn foundational floorwork techniques including body rolls, poses, leg waves, seamless transitions, and more—all woven into sensual, beginner-friendly routines.

This series is designed to help you build a strong foundation while embracing your sensuality and personal expression. Each class will break down choreography step by step, making it accessible, empowering, and fun. Whether you’re exploring floorwork for the first time or looking to reconnect with your movement, you’ll leave feeling more confident and creatively inspired.

Dancing with the Pole
Monday, July 7th 8:00-9:00pm

No tricks, spins, or climbs; just vibes.

In this beginner friendly pole class we’ll learn how to use the pole as a dance partner while keeping both feet on the ground. We’ll cover hip circles, figure 8’s, and body waves to begin with, then we’ll string them together into customizable flows.

This class is perfect for those that want a dance-based introduction to pole, and for existing pole students that want to add some stripper style flow to their freestyles.

Please wear workout clothes, but shorts in particular. You will need your legs bare in order to be able to grip the pole. Similarly, please refrain from applying lotion for at least 6 hours prior to class. You will be barefoot for class.

Spin Pole Progressions
Tuesday, July 8th 6:45-7:45pm

Yes, the pole itself can rotate.

In this class, you’ll focus on transitioning through various shapes and fluid movements while on the pole while it is on spin mode. Tara will guide you through a series of spins and combinations, helping you build strength, flexibility, and body awareness.

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced pole dancer, this class is designed for all levels, offering progressions and modifications to suit your abilities. You’ll leave feeling empowered and more confident in your pole technique.

Superhero Clinic
Wednesday, July 9th 7:15-8:15pm

Superhero is one of the most iconic pole moves you’ll come across, and in this workshop, we’re breaking it down so it actually makes sense in your body. We’ll cover the contact points, muscle engagement, and coordination needed to access and sustain the move, with strength drills and entry practice to meet you wherever you are with this pose.

Whether you’re brand new to Superhero, almost there but struggling with control or comfort, or you already have it and want to explore new entry options, this workshop is designed to adapt. We’ll look at floor-based setups for newer students, work through the Jasmine entry for those who are ready, and explore other approaches depending on who’s in the room.

And because the shape only comes alive once you can relax into it, we’ll also focus on reducing tension, softening your “pain face,” and creating clean lines and expression through your legs and free arm.

We’ll meet you at the intersection of technique and your body’s current ability, giving you what you need to make progress in this complex trick, or maybe finally nail it. This class is for levels 2 and up!

Grounded Inversions

Let’s get inverted….. on the ground!

In this workshop we will work on various versions of headstands, shoulder stands, crow pose, plow pose, partner stands, and wheel pose.

Please wear form fitting clothes you can move freely in. We have props for use during class, but feel free to bring your own yoga mat if you prefer.

Fat Chance Move & Mingle
Sunday, July 13th 5:30 – 6:15pm

Fat Chance Move and Mingle is a relaxed, one-off class where we kick things off by learning a fun move or combo for about 15 minutes—just enough to get us moving. After that, it’s all about enjoying the music and freestyling together in a light-hearted, supportive space. No pressure, no strict structure—just dance, play, and connect.

Please wear form fitting clothes that you can move freely in. 25 yard skirts are encouraged but not required. Belly dancing is best done barefoot.

All levels welcome!

Belly Dance Props: Veil
Mondays, July 14th- Aug 4th 7:00-8:00pm

Veil is a dynamic prop used in Belly Dance. From delicate spins to captivating sweeps and turns. In this 6 week series we will cover the basics and drill them to a few different stylized sequences.

Prior belly dance experience is recommended for this class, but is not required.

This class requires a Belly Dance Veil: There are a few options.
1. Bring your own veil if you already have one.
2. Buy a veil which you will receive the 1st day of class and get to keep for $30
3. Rent a veil for $5 which you can take home during the course. (Rented veils must be returned in good condition and by the final class. If these conditions are not met an additional $25 will be automatically charged to cover full replacement the day after the final class.)

Body Waves & Rolls
Wednesdays, July 16th-Aug 6th 7:15-8:15pm

From head to hips to legs, we’ll break down and build up body waves and rolls. These movements can be done standing, with the pole, on the floor, full body or isolated to just the one part; we’ll explore all of these for polers, burlesque dancers, belly dancers, dancers of all kinds really, and everyone who is looking for a fun way to strengthen their coordination and spinal stability.

You’ll learn: Front to back and sideways body waves. Standing waves with and without a leg release Torso isolations, reversals, and leg only waves Floor and pole-based variations A flowing combo to bring it all together in week four

This is smooth, slinky work — but it’s also deeply functional. Body waves build spinal mobility, coordination, rhythm, and brain-body connection. We’ll also explore how stuck spots in the body might come from physical tightness, mental blocks, or emotional holding — and how movement can shift all of it.

Wear whatever you’d rock to pole class; no heels required but welcomed. This is an all levels class — poler or not.

Striptease Basics: Undress for Any Occasion
Thursdays, July 24th-Aug 14th 6:30-7:30pm

We’ll go beyond learning a cookie cutter striptease routine during this four week series, and will work towards feeling prepared and confident to perform an impromptu striptease wearing whatever you already have on.

During this class you will learn erotic dance basics, posing, and formulas for clothing removal. We will put this all together into a loose routine you can take home, as well as working towards taking off your clothes with confidence on a daily basis. Our big goal for the end of the series is for you to realize just how sexy you already are, and what a gift you are already giving to anyone you undress for.

For the first class, please wear comfortable clothes that you can move easily in. If you are already confident in heels, please do bring a pair, but they are not a requirement.

It’s the Pits!

Let Erin teach you how to be a maniac and discover the secrets to hanging on by your armpits. Impress your friends with feats of strength! Worry your loved ones with strange bruises!

This class is recommended for students at level 2 or higher. We’ll work our way from Swan sit to Yogini, and Hood Ornament to Teddy.

Acro Chair Dance
Saturday, July 26th 12:00-1:30pm

Add Acrobatic Chair Dance to your aerial repertoire in this 90 minute introductory class!

This class will focus exclusively on Acro Chair tricks, rather than sexy chair dance for yourself or a partner. We will be working on balancing and inverted tricks, and will put them together for a short flow.

It is highly recommended that you complete Beginner Chair Dance, Chair Dance, or have prior hand balancing or aerial experience before taking this class.

Leggings are required for class, and knee pads are recommended if you have them. Please feel free to bring heels if you are already comfortable in them. There will be an opportunity to try out the flow in heels at the end of class.

Space in this class is extremely limited so that the instructor can give students adequate attention and spotting during tricks.

Boulder Shoulders: A Shoulder Stand Class

Struggling with your shoulder stands? Lemme hold yer butt!

In this workshop we will start with pole assisted progression to get you finding that sweet spot for balance before we take them to free-standing.

Whether you stick with pole or progress to free-standing, we’ll have oh-so-many progressions and variations because ya’ll know Corinne and her love of weird moves!

So come absolutely wreck your shoulders and learn some new weird floorwork while you’re at it! No prior pole or floorwork experience required; all levels welcome!

Kipping Up with the Cor-dashians: An Intro to Kips

Let’s find some fun, dynamic ways to get down on our knees! We will look at the foundations of how to land some very gentle kips before moving up with some more aggressive drops.

Heels (preferably with closed toes or other toe protection) and knee pads are REQUIRED for this class for safety reasons.

Only Feet: Everything but Foot Mount
Monday, August 4th 8:00-9:00pm

Hate Foot Mount? Hey, so does Lisa, but that doesn’t mean you can’t learn to love it (just not today).

In this special Point & Flex Month pole class we’ll explore using the bottom of our foot for grip, and how to work around grip issues and cramps. We’ll start out working on using our feet to help us slow our descent down the pole, then use them as a way to push away from the pole, but not as the main grip point.

We’ll end the class working on the push off so we can one day maybe perhaps probably not work on foot mount, but we’ll keep inversions out of it.

Needless to say, you’ll need to be barefoot for this class. This pole class is recommended for polers Level 2 and up.

Lyra Playspace
Wednesday, August 6th 6:00-7:00pm

Lyra Playspace is an intentional container for lyra students to invest in curiosity. Unlike a traditional class, there will not be a set lesson plan – students are instead encouraged to come to class with personal goals in mind, and the instructor will be there to support, offer assistance, and share feedback as desired. Whether you’re working on shaping your movements on the hoop into dance, or found a move on instagram you’d like to try, or want extra time to work on something from regular class, Lyra Playspace is a supportive environment to try out new ideas!

While there are no specific prerequisites to attend, this class is intended for students with an existing lyra practice, or are looking to explore lyra in a less structured environment.

Heel Dance 201
Mondays, Aug 11th-Sept 8th 5:40-6:40pm

Ready to level up? Heel Dance 201 is a 4-week intermediate series designed to refine your technique, build strength, and unlock your unique stage presence. This series focuses on dynamic choreography, floorwork transitions, spins, and performance quality—pushing you beyond the basics and into full-bodied expression.

Expect to sweat, slay, and tap deeper into your sensuality with intentional drills, conditioning, and confidence-building combos each week. Perfect for dancers who’ve completed Heels 101 or who are comfortable with heels fundamentals.

Dance Like a Stripper

Come join the Stripper Style army at CED! This is an untamed and explicit 6 week experience that will have you rolling your body, shaking your booty, and loving your body like no other class out there.

This series is intended for those who want to explore this style of movement for various reasons.

This is not necessarily a class for getting a job at a strip club, but we will certainly support you if that’s where you want to go with it. By the time the 6 weeks is over you’ll be ready to take it to a stage, and we will provide that stage. After you finish the series we will hold your graduation!!!! We will turn CED into a mock strip club, complete with club lights, fog, and play money to rain all over you.

This course is intended for ANYONE 18+. All kinds of striping can be explored here. From the mainstream strip club styles, to alternative adult entertainment. All genders, and the exploration of gender expression, are welcome!

Do you need pole experience? NOPE! Not at all. Pole Dance may have come to us from the strip clubs, but pole is not required for stripper style dance. If you know pole tricks already from other classes, then you can use them in your performance. If you don’t know any pole at all, you will learn everything you need to know that would still be more than a newbie stripper auditioning in a club for the first time. So don’t worry about any lack of pole skill. All you really need for this class is to be ready to step outside your comfort zone and challenge yourself.

Dance Like a Stripper is a complete series course meaning all 6 weeks of class are REQUIRED. You do not have to participate in the graduation club night, but we highly recommend that capstone experience. If illness or something else comes up to where you need to miss a class we will do our best to catch you up for the next week. There are no refunds for missed classes. Please be seriously committed to the full series before signing up.
