It’s Flexibility Month at CED!
Each month at Cleveland Eclectic Dance we focus on a different skill, style of dance, or body part in all of regular classes. This month at CED, we will be focusing on safely increasing flexibility.
In all of your classes this month, there will be an added focus on training for flexibility, and moves that require added flexibility (or look like they do).
To help you with your flexibility goals, we offer a weekly Flexibility Training every Wednesday at 8pm.
This is a goal oriented stretching class which uses a variety of stretching and muscle activation methods to help you achieve your flexibility goals with an emphasis on Active Flexibility. Learn safe and effective ways to stretch for various kinds of splits, back bends, shoulder flexibility, and more. You can join ANY TIME, and bring your personal goals. Everything in the body is connected. So, even if your main goal is splits but the class is working on back flexibility, you should still be here! There is plenty in back bend work that will help your splits, and vice versa… for every class program you will find techniques to help you achieve your individual goals.

Pole Trick Nemesis
Tuesdays, June 6th-27th 7:15-8:15pm

Got a pole move or combination of moves that you are stuck on? Come into this troubleshooting style class where you will work alongside your classmates to learn how to nail all kinds of tricks.
This class is running for 4 weeks, but it is NOT a series. This is an open class like our regular pole level classes. When you sign up you will be asked what your current pole nemesis move is.
Please no more than 1 trick per class per person, and the instructor will need to know what move or short combo you are coming to work on prior to class in order to plan.
Each week the warm up exercises will be based upon each person’s goal move. Then each move will be briefly discussed with the class, with progressions given at all levels to start working the necessary skills and muscles. Finally, Roxi will move around the room to check in with each person to troubleshoot and give suggestions for how to achieve their personal nemesis goal move.
You can bring anything you are working on. Some common nemesis moves which will likely come up are superhero, climbing techniques, jade, invert techniques, leg hangs, different entries and exits to various tricks. Then again, who knows, what we work on is dependent on you!
All levels welcome!
The class is $20 per class, and is included on all Pole Flex Passes and Unlimited Passes.
Dance Like a Stripper
Mondays, June 10th-July 10th 7:15-8:15pm

Come join the Stripper Style army at CED! This is an untamed and explicit 6 week experience that will have you rolling your body, shaking your booty, and loving your body like no other class out there.
This series is intended for those who want to explore this style of movement for various reasons.

- Fun
- Curiosity about strippers and strip clubs (bring your questions!)
This is not necessarily a class for getting a job at a strip club, but we will certainly support you if that’s where you want to go with it.
By the time the 6 weeks is over you’ll be ready to take it to a stage, and we will provide that stage. The 6 class sessions will be on Tuesdays, June 12th-July 10th, 7:15-8:15pm. On Friday, July 21st, after our evening classes, will be your graduation!!!! We will turn CED into a mock strip club, complete with club lights, fog, and play money to rain all over you.
This course is intended for ANYONE 18+. All kinds of striping can be explored here. From the mainstream strip club styles, to alternative adult entertainment. All genders, and the exploration of gender expression, are welcome!
Do you need pole experience? NOPE! Not at all. Pole Dance may have come to us from the strip clubs, but pole is not required for stripper style dance. If you know pole tricks already from other classes, then you can use them in your performance. If you don’t know any pole at all, you will learn everything you need to know that would still be more than a newbie stripper auditioning in a club for the first time. So don’t worry about any lack of pole skill. All you really need for this class is to be ready to step outside your comfort zone and challenge yourself.
Dance Like a Stripper is a complete series course meaning all 6 weeks of class are REQUIRED. You do not have to participate in the graduation club night, but we highly recommend that capstone experience. If illness or something else comes up to where you need to miss a class we will do our best to catch you up for the next week. There are no refunds for missed classes. Please be seriously committed to the full series before signing up. Contact us with any questions or potential schedule conflicts you would like to check with us about before signing up.

Belly Dance Veils
Tuesdays, June 13th-27th 6:15-7:30pm

One of the most common props used in belly dance, the veil can be a wonderful and dynamic addition into ones belly dance repertoire.
In this three week series we will go over the basic technique, as well as cover two classic ways to make an entrance with the veil…with a bit of a twist. At the end of the series we will have both entrance concepts and technique to put to use in two sequences.
We will have veils available for use in class, though you are welcome to bring your own.
Students must have completed Belly Dance 101 or have prior belly dance experience for this series.
This series is $50 for all three weeks, and is included on all Dance & Fitness Flex Passes and Unlimited Passes
High Heel Mastery
Saturday, June 17th 12:00-1:30pm

Whether they are 1/2 an inch or sky high, walking and dancing in heels is a skill you probably weren’t taught, or were afraid to practice much for fear of looking silly. We welcome you to our judgment-free, inclusive environment to learn and practice. By the end of this class you will walk out more confidently in your high heels.
You will learn about adjusting your body posture and weight distribution in order to feel balanced, and how this might change depending on the type of heel you are wearing (stiletto, platform, pump, wedge, etc). We will go over the differences in the human stride between flat foot walking and high heel walking, and the various ways we can shift the movement through our bodies using the pelvis as a focal point of movement. We will also go over stretching and strength training exercises to lessen the risk of twisting an ankle or developing repetitive strain injuries due to high heels.
Beginners welcome!
This class is $25 per person.
Burlesque 101

Eliza Sidecar is back!
Learn the building block movements of classic burlesque. We will cover bumps and grinds, dips and shimmies, walks and poses, peels and combos! From day one, we will go over how to string classic moves together to create simple and sexy burlesque combos. Students will also learn the art of the tease, and how to elevate the dance through audience engagement, self-touch, and musicality.
This class is a 101 for all levels; whether you are brand new to burlesque or looking to brush up on technique and learn some tips and tricks, all are welcome!
Please have a comfortable pair of heels on hand.
We are offering both an in studio and online option for this course. Please make sure that you select the correct option when registering.
The six week in studio option is $75 for all six weeks, and is included on all Unlimited Passes and Dance & Fitness Flex passes.
The four week online option (does not include Week 5 (Props) or Week 6 (Pasties) of the in studio option) is $50 for all four weeks, and is included on all Unlimited Passes and Dance & Fitness Flex Passes.
Belly Dance 101

During the 6 weeks you will learn all base belly dance movements, and finish the session with a mini dance!
Belly Dance 101 is created to give brand new students a solid foundation to continue on in our weekly belly dance class. Students wishing to review basics are also welcome.
This is a 6 week class. We highly recommend starting with week 1 so you do miss a single shimmy! Please contact us before you register if you can’t make it to all six weeks.

Heel Clacks & Bangs
Tuesday, July 11th 7:15-8:30pm

Love heels but not sure what all you can do with them? Whether you’re walking like a pro or wearing heels as decoration, take your footwear to the next level by learning tips and tricks for heel clacks and shoe bangs both on the pole and on the floor!
This class will cover the basics as well as a variety of ways of how to clack the platforms of your stripper shoes together and against the floor. Some combo options too so you can add the skill directly into your dances. Stripper Style platform shoes are required (and available for rent if you don’t already own a pair!), and knee pads are highly recommended. By the end of this class, the moves you’ll do with your shoes will be music to your ears!
Newbies welcome! There will be some pole options for those who do pole, but it’s not required and there are no pole level requirements. Most of the skills for students newer to pole and this style of dance will be on the floor.
This class is $20 per person, and is included on all Pole Flex Passes and Unlimited Passes.
